At the Lumière cinema in Bratislava, a press conference was held on 2 September 2026 on the occasion of the 21st edition of the Cinematik International Film Festival. The organisers presented the main programme strands, new features and expectations associated with this year's edition of the festival.
The honorary director of the festival attended the press conference Božidara Turzonovová, honorary director Branislav Deák, managing director Tomáš Klenovský, artistic director Vladimír Štric and for the PR programme Peter Konečný.
Attention was also paid to the film General Golian, which the 21st Cinematik will open with as a world premiere. The director, producer and screenwriter spoke about the upcoming historical drama Juraj Štepka, screenwriter Peter Rajčák and an actor Ondrej Hraška, who played the main character in the film.
Film General Golian brings to the screen the story of one of the most prominent figures of the Slovak National Uprising and portrays his fate during a dramatic period of Slovak history. At a press conference, the creators presented the circumstances of the film's creation, their motivation to dedicate themselves to this historical theme, and the work on its cinematic adaptation.
The 21st edition of Cinematik will bring a host of new Slovak and foreign films, prominent documentary titles, festival premieres, and meetings with domestic and international film professionals to Piešťany.
