The Bells Toll for the Barefooted

Stanislav Barabáš

The last winter of World War II. Down in the valley peace already reigns, up in the mountains the fight for life still rages. Two partisans, Ondrej and Stašek, capture a young German soldier, Hans. They take him to headquarters, where they discover that their partisan unit has disappeared. They spare his life. Later they meet Verona, a young woman who has lost everything in the war. There are no longer allies or enemies in this struggle, only human beings who want to survive.
