The 1960s, Czechoslovakia. Rock ‘n’ roll sounds from the radio, miniskirts, and student revolts are changing the world. Tomáš arrives at a prestigious radio newsroom, where he finds himself caught in a dangerous battle between the journalists and the secret police. At stake are a compromising recording and the lives of everyone involved. The main character faces a difficult choice: to sacrifice his brother or his colleagues who are fighting for the truth. Jiří Mádl’s new film Waves is based on previously undisclosed true stories of journalists from the Czechoslovak Radio.
