Kinds of Kindness (2/2)

The film presents viewers with a trio of remarkable stories. In the first, a man with no other options attempts to take control of his own life. In the second, we meet a police officer who reunites with his wife, who vanished without a trace at sea, but begins to suspect that the person who has returned to him is someone entirely different. The third story follows a woman determined to find a very specific person with extraordinary abilities, destined to become an exceptional spiritual leader. Jesse Plemons, Emma Stone, and Willem Dafoe each portray different characters in this narratively unpredictable and excellent triptych about power, manipulation, and madness in today’s world. It is an addictive intellectual and sensory challenge.
