House of ArtsBased on a true story. Romania, 1981. Ceaușescu is in office, leading a communist Romania. He writes the official story of the country with the help of the National Television. Mugur Călinescu, a 16-year-old teenager, writes a different story on walls in chalk: uppercase protest messages against the regime. His actions are compiled in a voluminous file kept by the Secret Police, which observed, apprehended, interrogated, and in the end, destroyed him. Linking both stories—secret and public as well as personal and collective—the film brings to light an unknown hero decades after the fall of communism.
