Green Border

After relocating to the Suwałki region, psychologist Julia becomes an involuntary witness and participant in the dramatic events on the Polish-Belarusian border. She decides to give up her comfortable life and joins a group of activists helping refugees. At the same time, a Syrian family fleeing the civil war, along with their guide—a teacher from Afghanistan—are deceived by the Belarusians and forcibly taken to a refugee camp near the Polish border. In a desperate attempt to escape, they embark on a dangerous journey through unknown and hostile territory. This film, directed by Agnieszka Holland, is one of the most important European films of the past year. Holland herself notes, “I have touched the conscience of the Polish people.”
