Unexpected headliner of the programme – Irish film Kneecap

You can also look forward to the cheeky comedy KNEECAP, which has already won the Audience Award at Sundance IFF. Kneecap brings the true story of the origins of Kneecap, a Northern Irish hip hop group that proudly promotes the Irish language. Set in Belfast in 2019, it follows the lives of a disillusioned music teacher JJ and two young men, Naoise and Liam Óg. Together they form a band that transforms the Irish music scene with their anarchic and hedonistic style. To make their voice heard, they have to fight the police, paramilitaries and politicians, but their biggest enemies are often themselves.
